Research & Discovery

During this phase, we conducted thorough research, and interviews to understand the target audience their challenges their pain points and their needs. This mainly revolved around how they managed their health, the extent of intervention of technology in their lives, the common health ailments, what their day looked like etc. Other than this, existing competitors and innovations in the domains were looked into.

Secondary Research also included Competitor Analysis, with existing fitness apps like Nike+, Apple Fitness+ and CultFit, Fitbod and more that led to inspiration behind design elements.

Findings & Ideations

The research phase surfaced highly interesting learnings about the target group which informed the foundation of User Persona:
01. Readability & UI Comprehension in existing apps
02. Inclination towards visual associations 
03. Organisation of medicines
04. Fitness goals are heavily affected by environmental & other factors like COVID, Air Quality etc5. An Alert system for accidents that is linked to phones
06. The material of the watch strap can cause rashes because silicon isn't good for all skin types​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Findings from this stage were used to conceptualise a mobile and a watch (Fitbit Inspire2) UI, A Fall detection system, personalization of wrist strap

Personalization

The option to choose custom straps that were made from softer and skin-friendly materials like cotton could be a potential business opportunity that could use the skills of artisans from the local community. These could be themed based on seasons or festivals that are celebrated in India to give a variety to the users.

An app to help the target group create that visual association with icons and their functions, which is consistent in the UI of the watch as well. The app allows users to engage in a community of other people of their age group & participate in live workout sessions. . A Fall Detection System that could alert first responders in cases of emergency. Added an option for strap personalization.
